DR Iwona Kalenik (p.v.Cała) – absolwentka Politechniki Łódzkiej (2003) oraz Podyplomowego Studium Projektowania „architektura + dialog” (2006) w gdańskiej Akademii Sztuk Pięknych, w której również obroniła rozprawę doktorską (2018) pod opieką prof. Jacka Dominiczaka.
Od 2016 roku pracuje w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Warszawie na Wydziale Architektury Wnętrz, gdzie od 2019 roku prowadzi III Pracownię Projektowania Wnętrz. Projektuje w nurcie troski – czułego projektowania, zadawania pytań i uważnego poszukiwania architektonicznych odpowiedzi.
Iwona Kalenik (razem z Agnieszką Kacprzak) jest laureatką konkursu na kuratorski projekt wystawy w Pawilonie Polskim na 18. Międzynarodowej Wystawie Architektury w Wenecji w 2023. Projekt „Miejsce troski” otrzymał status Projektu Rezerwowego.
Jest beneficjentką stypendium artystycznego Ministra Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego (2014, 2020) oraz autorką publikacji o tematyce architektury miasta. Zajmuje się również ilustrowaniem książek dla dzieci i prowadzeniem warsztatów architektonicznych. Współpracuje z organizacjami pozarządowymi w ramach projektów artystycznych. Maluje akwarelami, szkicuje oraz pisze o architekturze.

I create architectures of various spaces, basing the search for solutions on the rules of ethics, ideas of repair and an ecological, sensitive approach.
I explore the potential of an ethical and ecological approach to design; I develop the idea of care in architecture; I am advancing my own research on the artistic darning of the city in areas of ruptures in the urban fabric; I am creating a framework for a new radical design practice based on the ethic of care and the city-textile analogy. My activities focus on developing the theory of Architecture of Care, and the design attempts I make are the result of experimental, artistic research.
Ph.D. Iwona Kalenik (p.v.Cała) – graduate of the Lodz University of Technology (2003) and the Postgraduate Design Study „architecture + dialogue” (2006) at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, where she also defended her doctoral dissertation (2018) under the supervision of prof. Jacek Dominiczak.
Since 2016, she has been working at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw at the Faculty of Interior Design, where she has been running the 3rd Interior Design Studio since 2019. She designs in the spirit of care – sensitive design, asking questions and carefully searching for architectural answers.
Iwona Kalenik (together with Agnieszka Kacprzak) is the winner of the competition for the curatorial project of the exhibition in the Polish Pavilion at the 18th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice in 2023. The project „Place of Care” was awarded the status of Reserve Project.
She is a beneficiary of the artistic scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage (2014, 2020) and the author of publications on the subject of urban architecture. She also illustrates children’s books and runs architectural workshops. She cooperates with non-governmental organizations as part of artistic projects. She paints with watercolors, sketches and writes about architecture.
